Good morning! A little more personal than usual but my family had an amazing weekend. My now-grown kids are in Kansas, Maryland and Illinois - couple #2 of 3 got married Saturday (our 1st wedding was last July in Kansas and the 3rd is coming April 29). This picture is from the last dance at the reception and includes all 3 couples. They each found the best person ever so my 'dad heart' is overflowing with joy. As we made the drive home from the wedding location in Virginia, I thought of the impact these 3 (and now, plus three) have had on my life and how responsible they unknowingly have been for what motivates me - what lights my fire. I remember holding my then-newborn daughter in the hospital shortly after she was born - she looked up at me with these big blue eyes and I clearly remember thinking, "This person needs me to be a decent, responsible, human being." As life has gone on, there have been plenty of highs and lows and I am far from perfect - but when I think of why I want to excel - why I want to be a kind person and a blessing to others - especially in their early days a big driver was "what do I want my kids to see in me?" We all have to find our sweet spot - what motivates us - and definitely my motivation is my responsibility - but what a blessing this group of now-six amazing people continue to be to me. So yeah, I need to cut this off and get busy - feeling like my fire is lit again to work towards excellence.
